What grade level is this best for?
The Lesson Pack is intended for students with a solid foundation of consonant sounds - typically early to mid elementary. That said, the strategies are relevant for parents of dyslexic students of any age and older students who haven't yet mastered the included phonemes will benefit too.
What phonemes do you cover inside the lessons?
You'll get explicit instruction on short vowels (a, e, i, o, u), sh, -ay, -ck, ee, ch, or, the FSZL rule, all, voiced and unvoiced th, -oy, -ing, -ang/-ong/-ung, ar, wh, oo, -ink/-ank/-onk/-unk, silent e, oi, ow - plus 5 review lessons and a bonus vowel lesson.
My child already knows some of this - can we skip ahead?
Absolutely! Each family meets their child exactly where they are. Just confirm there are no gaps before jumping forward, since the curriculum is cumulative. The instructional strategies are valuable at every stage regardless of entry point.
Are these considered Orton Gillingham lessons?
The Lesson Pack closely follows the OG lesson framework but is not a substitute for a live OG tutor. It was created for families who don't have access to such services due to time, location or financial constraints. You'll learn how to support, prompt and encourage throughout each lesson.
